Seaborn Douglas

Seaborn Douglas
I am the owner of this photo. It was given to me by Nell Easterling Bowen.
Seaborn Douglas was born circa 1859 in Wayne County, GA. He was named after his grandfather. He is the son of Burrell Douglas Sr. and Mary Ann Strickland. He first appears on the 1860 Wayne County, GA in his father Burrell Douglas Sr.'s house. Also in the household are his mother Mary and his siblings, James, Nancy, William, Henry and Jane.
He is then on the 1870 Ware County, GA census in the household of his father Burrell Douglas Sr. and his siblings, William, Henry, Jane, Mary Ann and Burrell Jr. Also in the house is Nancy Carter and her son William.
He married Rebecca Lane on Janaury 5, 1882 in Ware County, GA. There children were Elizabeth "Lizzie" born circa 1883, William Riley born circa 1884 and John A. born circa January 1894. At some point family stories talked about Rebecca abandoning her family and Seaborn, her husband, was left to raise the children by himself. It was later reported in the Waycross Weekly Herald that Seaborn Douglas and Rebecca Douglas filed for divorce and was granted full divorce on April 21, 1894. Her son John A. Douglas was about 4 months old at the time of the divorce.
In 1900 he appeared in the household with his brother Henry Douglas in Schlatterville, Pierce County, GA. Then on the 1910 Pierce County, GA census he is in the household of an Easterling family near Blackshear, GA, in Pierce County, GA. Seaborn died circa 1918 in Pierce County, GA. My father, Silas Douglas, said his grandfather was buried in Mt. Plesent Cemetery in Ware County, GA just outside the city limits of Waycross, GA in an unmarked grave.
